1. Overview

CommentSweep ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension that helps YouTube creators find and delete unwanted comments from their channel using keyword filters. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data we use.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service:

• YouTube Channel ID: Used as a unique identifier to verify your subscription status. Stored in Firebase Firestore.
• Google OAuth Token: A temporary access token issued by Google that allows the extension to interact with the YouTube API on your behalf. Stored locally in your browser using AES-256 encryption and never sent to our servers.
• Language Preference: Stored locally in your browser to remember your selected language (English or Spanish).
• Feedback Email (optional): If you choose to send feedback, your email address and message are sent via EmailJS to the developer. We do not store this data.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, password, or any other personal information.
• We do not read, store, or process the content of your YouTube videos.
• We do not track your browsing history or activity outside of the extension.
• We do not sell or share your data with any third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
• We do not store comments or scan results on any server — all processing happens locally in your browser.

4. How We Use Your Data

• YouTube Channel ID: Used solely to verify whether your account has an active subscription in our database.
• OAuth Token: Used solely to make authorized requests to the YouTube Data API (list videos, fetch comments, delete comments) on your behalf.
• Subscription Status: Stored in Firebase Firestore to determine whether you have access to premium features.

5. Third-Party Services

CommentSweep uses the following third-party services:

• Google YouTube Data API v3: To access and manage comments on your YouTube channel. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Firestore (Google): To store subscription status. Subject to Firebase's Privacy Policy.
• PayPal: To process subscription payments. Subject to PayPal's Privacy Policy. We do not store any payment or card information.
• EmailJS: To send feedback emails. Only used when you voluntarily submit feedback. Subject to EmailJS's Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention

• Your OAuth token is stored locally in your browser and automatically expires after 1 hour. It is deleted when you sign out.
• Your subscription record in Firebase is retained while your subscription is active. You may request deletion by contacting us.
• Scan results are stored temporarily in your browser's local storage and are cleared after use.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your data from our systems.
• Revoke the extension's access to your YouTube account at any time via Google Account Permissions.

8. Security

Your Google OAuth token is encrypted using AES-256-GCM before being stored locally in your browser. All communication with external APIs uses HTTPS. We do not have access to your Google password or any payment information.

9. Children's Privacy

CommentSweep is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
